JUMPSTART 2014

28 Aug '2014, 09:30 am to 06:00 pm
Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, CMH Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore

The event is a platform for professionals and aspirants involved in children’s content across media – including authors, illustrators, animators, designers, publishers and teachers, among several others.
JUMPSTART 2014 will bring together experts from the books, media, education and creative industries to create a dialogue and explore the different facets of play and its intersections with storytelling, imagination technology and reality that will translate into better content for children.

Revolving around the theme, “Let’s Play”, to underscore the idea that Play is Fun, the day-long event will host speakers of international repute, and will have discussions on Storytelling, followed by a workshop on Writing for Children, and a workshop on Illustration.

The panel discussions will bring to the stage well-known children’s writer from Hong Kong, Nury Vittachi; Franco-Italian artist author and illustrator of children's books, Sophie Benini Pietromarchi; two Bangalore-based authors, Asha Nehemiah and Anshumani Ruddra; and, Germany-based publisher and tech entrepreneur, Ralph Moellers.

The workshop on Writing for Children will be led by Nuri Vittachi, and Sophie Benini Pietromarchi will lead the workshop for illustrators.

Organised by the German Book Office, New Delhi, the event has been held in New Delhi every year since 2009, and is being brought to Bangalore for the first time this August. Over the last five editions, the event has successfully brought together over 500 participants, and more than 100 speakers from about 15 countries. JUMPSTART will be held in two cities for the first time this year, starting with New Delhi (24 – 26 August 2014), and moving to Bangalore (28 August 2014).  For more details, visit: www.jumpstartfest.com.

Past editions:
Initiated in 2009, JUMPSTART began as a series of workshops and seminars mainly focused on writing & illustrating children’s books, libraries for children and marketing children’s books. The overwhelming response that GBO got for each workshop resulted in a two-day event ‘JUMPSTART: Join the Dots’ in 2010 which brought together, for the first time, all professionals and those wanting to work in the world of children’s content, to share experience, expertise and learnings.  Since then, each year JUMPSTRAT has grown and evolved. The various themes explored in past are : “JUMPSTART: Join the Dots” (2010), “JUMPSTART: Out of Box” (2011), “JUMPSTART: Off the Page” (2012) and “JUMPSTART: Speaking in Tongues” (2013).

Register today: http://www.jumpstartfest.com/register1.aspx
JUMPSTART offers two registration options:
  • Panel discussion only: Rs. 1200/- Early bird discount Rs. 1080
  • Full day (panel discussion + workshop): Rs. 2500/- Early bird discount Rs. 2250
